2024 Stratford Community Garden Planning Survey

Share

The Town of Stratford is asking our help to understand how interested Stratford residents are to establish and participate in a local community garden.

A community garden is a shared space where a group of people work together to grow plants, such as vegetables and flowers, and share the products of their labor:

  • Location:  Community gardens can be found in urban, suburban, or rural areas, and can be located in neighborhoods, schools, or hospitals.
  • Organization:  Community gardens can be organized in a variety of ways, including individual plots or collective gardens. In individual plots, each gardener is responsible for their own plot and the produce. In collective gardens, the land is not divided and the harvest belongs to all participants.
  • Maintenance:  Community gardens are different from parks and public spaces because the users are responsible for most of the maintenance.
  • Benefits:  Community gardens can provide a sense of community, access to healthy food, and environmental education. They can also serve as models for ecological practices and social justice.

Your answers will be used to decide if a community garden would be used and supported by the Stratford community. Complete the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Stratgarden2024.
