State Representative Joe Gresko, (D)
121st Connecticut House District
Dear Neighbors,
This week, Governor Ned Lamont announced that the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) will implement new eligibility benefit levels in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beginning October 1st.
The new eligibility benefits will result in an estimated 44,000 additional Connecticut residents in 17,600 households becoming eligible for the food assistance program.
Food insecurity is a very real challenge for too many residents – even in our community. Over the years, I’ve been proud to volunteer at the food distribution location at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stratford.
If you or someone you know is struggling with food insecurity, learn more about food distribution events in Stratford (see calendar). Or find locations across the state hosted by Connecticut Foodshare by going to ctfoodshare.com
Guidance on the new eligibility levels, along with application and program information, are available online at www.ct.gov/snap.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me at the Capitol at 800-842-0363 or email me at [email protected].
