Salerno’s Closing

The Stratford Crier would like to recognize an institution in Stratford – Salerno’s. For over 75 years they have dished out pizza and Italian favorites. Below is the Facebook post from Carlo Salerno. Thank you Carlo Salerno and your family for years of good food, and may your retirement be filled with daily adventures.

Hello Everyone

I’m Carlo Salerno and my family owns Salerno’s in Stratford.

I had planned to close Salerno’s by my 80th birthday this coming July. I felt 80 is a good age for me to retire.

We have owned and operated Salerno’s for over 75 years and at this time, it’s become increasingly difficult for me to keep our doors open.

Let’s face it, the COVID years…. the shortage of qualified workers….and the current recession has devastated the restaurant business in Connecticut.

Look around….Sadly, Salerno’s is no exception.

To our customers:

WOW!! What can we say?

We are truly grateful for the support and loyalty you and your families have shown our pizzeria over the past 75 years.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Your kind words and continued patronage have meant the world to us, and we will cherish the memories we have made together since 1947.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and for making our dreams…. a beautiful reality!

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to serve you, and we will always hold a special place in our hearts for the Bridgeport / Stratford area that have supported us throughout these many, many years.

With gratitude and fond memories

Carlo and Andrew Salerno
