A Tail of Two Huskies

Stratford Animal Rescue Society (STARS)

Urgent Donations Needed for Veterinary Care

We recently rescued two Huskies, Kleo and Mateo, in two separate cases of neglect and animal cruelty. Both dogs were hit by cars and suffered severe injuries that went untreated by their owners.

Kleo’s owner had a history of allowing her to roam, leading to this tragic accident. Sadly, due to the delayed care, Kleo’s leg couldn’t be saved and had to be amputated.

Animal Control arrested the owner for animal cruelty, and while the criminal case is ongoing, Animal Control secured custody of Kleo through a civil hearing.

Mateo’s owner also failed to seek timely veterinary care, but thankfully, we were able to surgically repair his leg. The criminal case regarding his owner is also ongoing.

Both Kleo and Mateo are now safe and receiving the  best possible care, but their surgeries and ongoing rehabilitation have resulted in expenses exceeding $8,000.

With shelters across Connecticut facing immense challenges, our resources are stretched thin. We’re unlikely to recover any costs from the owners, which is why we are turning to our compassionate community for support.

Can you please help Kleo and Mateo by making a donation?  Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in their recovery and our ability to continue helping animal in need.
