Dear Neighbor,
Drivers should expect delays next week on Route 113 (Main Street) adjacent to Sikorsky Airport as crews rebuild the road and install a cofferdam system to address intermittent flooding. While road work is underway, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) expects that Main Street will be closed starting Monday, December 2 through Friday, December 13.
There will be detours around the airport using the following roads:
Access Road
Lordship Boulevard
Oak Bluff Avenue
Prospect Drive
Stratford Road
Crews will set up traffic control signs to help drivers through the work zone. Please be alert, and drive carefully in that area.
CTDOT hired a contractor to reduce flooding with an environmentally friendly plan to permanently re-establish the elevation of Route 113. It runs through an environmentally sensitive tidal wetland with challenging soil conditions. This project demonstrates CTDOT’s commitment to balancing infrastructure improvements with environmental stewardship.
As always, if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact my office at (860) 240-8585 or email me directly.
