Eliminate the Middlemen

Taxes and Attorneys

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

I just got the tax bills. Needless to say, like every Stratford resident I’m shocked and angry at the enormous increase in our taxes. Not a complainer by nature, I tend to think of positive solutions. Indeed, after a sleepless night I came out with a win-win suggestion that may lower our taxes to a more reasonable amount and here it is in simple plain English:

ELIMINATE THE MIDDLEMEN.

How? Simple:

The processing of our hard earned tax payment is a cumbersome one at the moment and requires time and effort of a number of employees: We pay town hall. Tax collector employees process our payment then forward allocated funds to BOE. BOE employees process our hard earned tax money and forward a great chunk to the law firm of Berchem and Moses. We can trim this process by eliminating the middlemen:

If we pay Berchem and Moses directly, BOE can fire more loyal employees and have more funds for its lawsuits.

You see the logic? It’S an efficient way to support the lawyers and the hidden or not so hidden agenda of the BOE majority. Brilliant, isn’t it?

What about our school system? You ask.

What about educating our children, saving the reputation of the town and the value of our properties?

Very good questions. Indeed.

  1. Like I said in an earlier comment. The lawyers are always the winners. My taxes didn’t go up that much, but any $$$ wasted is a real offense to the taxpayers’. We could have offset the “Sewer Fees” with all the lawyer fees. Seems appropriate. No pun intended
