H.B. 6484: An Act Concerning Certain Harvesting of Horseshoe Crabs into law signed in Stratford by Governor Lamont and supporters

State Representative Joe Gresko, (D)
121st Connecticut House District

Dear Neighbor,

I’m excited to share that Governor Lamont has signed H.B. 6484: An Act Concerning Certain Harvesting of Horseshoe Crabs into law. This bill, now referred to as Public Act 23-6, prohibits the hand-harvesting of horseshoe crabs or their eggs from Connecticut waters. This is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to protect these incredible creatures and preserve their habitats.

The bill signing took place right here at Short Beach in Stratford last Wednesday. I felt incredibly grateful to have the company of countless supporters and advocates as we marked this momentous occasion for environmental conservation in our state.

This event was not only a celebration of our collective efforts but also an opportunity for us to come together as a community and reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding our natural resources. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Governor Lamont, Mayor Laura Hoydick, the Stratford delegation, my colleagues in the General Assembly, and the advocates who have played a crucial role in making this possible. This bill was passed as a direct result of your active participation and invaluable contributions.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me at the Capitol at 860-842-0363 or email me at [email protected].
