Stratford’s Public Works Department will once again decorate landmarks and buildings throughout Stratford for the Holidays, a tradition as of 2020.  They will be assisted by  the Stratford Beautification Committee, according to the Town of Stratford news release.

Holiday Lighting Festival ● Thursday, November. 30th at 5:30 p.m. ● Town Hall Green

Mayor Laura R. Hoydick invites Stratford families to participate in the annual Holiday Tree Lighting. Highlights of the Festival will include complimentary photos with Santa and performances by Wilcoxson Elementary School students and the Stratford High School Select Choir. . New this year, the Christ Church “Ding-a-Ling” bell choir will be performing in Town Hall Council Chambers.  Santa will arrive via fire truck, sirens and all.

There will also be complimentary cookies and hot cocoa, provided by M&T Bank. What’s not to like about cocoa and cookies?

The event will take place outdoors except for photos with Santa, which will be staged at Town Hall’s center staircase. Please arrive at Town Hall by 6:30 p.m. for photos with Santa.

Menorah Lighting ● Tuesday, December. 12th at 6 p.m. ● Town Hall Green

In celebration of Hanukkah, Rabbi Joseph Stock of the Mishkan Israel Day Camp will be on-hand to light an oversized menorah, which, in his own words, will “shine a light on all humanity.”   The event will take place entirely outdoors.

Rabbi Stock invites friends and family members to partake in the festivities, sharing stories from past celebrations and highlighting Jewish heritage and traditions. Light refreshments and hot cocoa will be available after the ceremonial menorah lighting, while Hebrew music fills the Town Hall green.
