Whitehead Weekend General Aviation Fly-In at Igor Sikorsky Memorial Airport on Saturday and Sunday, August 12th and 13th.  The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  All aircraft welcome.  Sponsored by the Connecticut Air & Space Center.

Wednesday, August 16th, 7:00 p.m., Candlelight Historical Walk Season 2, Episode 1: Judson House to Bond’s Dock.  Explore the Historic District and beyond with Town Historian, David Wright. Discover stories of the people, places, and events that have shaped the town throughout its history while enjoying a light stroll through the evening, summer air! Each walk features a different walking path and topic of conversation.  Walkers meet at the Captain David Judson House by 7 p.m.

On Saturday, August 19th at 10 a.m. at the Judson House/Catharine B. Mitchell Museum Historic Gardens, 967 Academy Hill, join Laurie Masciandaro to learn about the sixteen historic gardens across Connecticut. Laurie will share her extensive knowledge of gardening from a historian’s perspective and discuss the styles, beauty, and traditions of gardens of the past.  Enjoy light refreshments and walk through our Historic Judson House Gardens following the presentation.  $3 Members, $5 Non-members. Saturday, August 19th Neighborhood Breakfast at Stratford United Methodist Church, free community breakfast 8:30-10:00 a.m. on the 3rd Saturday of each month:  They offer hot food and community for those in need.  Enter through the back of the church.  Enjoy a meal and visit the thrift shop, which has affordable clothing, toys, and household items.

Saturday, August 19th SPS Family Partnership Back To School Fair from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Stratford High School.  Jumpstart the school year with backpacks and school supplies for Stratford students.

Sunday, August 20th at 2 p.m. Eric Chandler presentation at the Catharine B. Mitchell Museum, Local American Revolutionary War historian, Eric Chandler, will explore the who, the how, the successes, and the failures of America’s first foray into intelligence gathering. Discover the role espionage played in the ultimate success of the American War for Independence.  Sponsored by Stratford Historical Society, Free, no registration necessary

September 9th, Violet Willows Concert to benefit the Stratford Education Foundation, providing free books to Stratford’s preschoolers through The Imagination Library.  The performance begins at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $15.00 at the door.  Sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Bridgeport, 275 Huntington Road, Stratford.
