Represents Connecticut’s 21st District
(Stratford, Seymour, Shelton, and Monroe)
Dear friends,
This week at the Capitol, public hearings and committee meetings started winding down and the bills created this year will soon be debated on the Senate floor.
I submitted testimony opposing Yankee Gas’s proposed rate increase, which would lead to a 43% rise in gas distribution rates – the largest in Connecticut’s history. This would result in a steep increase to your electric bill by $46 a month. I called for the state’s rate-setting authority to reject the proposal and emphasize the need for transparency and accountability from Yankee Gas regarding such a substantial hike.
As your State Senator, I will continue to advocate for the financial well-being of Connecticut residents.
As the leading Republican Senator on both the Children’s Committee and the Human Services Committee, I voted in favor of H.B. 7109. In this bill, I supported the requirement that all individuals working with children while under a licensed behavior analyst must be a mandated reporter of suspected abuse. This bill includes common-sense protections that are necessary for families. You can watch the full committee meeting here.
