Become a Volunteer Tutor for Adult English Language Learners

Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut will hold a free, online program, starting Monday, January 24th, to train tutors to work with adult English language learners. In Stratford about 20 percent of residents speak a language other than English at home — and improving their English skills is often a key to better jobs, greater participation in their children’s education, and more involvement in their community.

Prospective tutors need only empathy, curiosity, openness, and a few hours of time per week. Literacy Volunteers will supply materials and training. Our next five-week training will be held online on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., beginning on Monday, January 24th.

Contact Suzanne Solensky, executive director of LVSCT, at director@lvsct.org to sign up or get more information.
