Dear Staff and Families,
Many years ago, I identified a handful of communities in Connecticut where I could see myself settling into and raising a family. Almost a decade and a half later, I had the privilege of leading the school system in one of those communities.
Early in my tenure, I was able to identify the promise, or potential, of the Stratford Public Schools. What I recognized was so vibrant that I wanted my own children to be part of that future, so I negotiated it into my contract. Without doubt, my team and I laid a vision and foundation for inclusivity, opportunity, growth, impact, and organizational effectiveness. Although growth takes time, the upward trajectory of Stratford Public Schools was clear, and there was a palpable energy of hope.
It has been a personal and professional honor to serve the students, faculty, staff, families, and community partners of Stratford Public Schools as Superintendent. However, I hope many of you have followed this story over the last 10 months. After deep thought, I’ve decided it is in my best interest to step away and pursue other professional opportunities.
Your feedback and ideas shared through phone calls, emails, town hall meetings, Board and committee meetings, and conversations at our school sponsored events greatly influenced my leadership approach. Stratford has some of the best children and educators in the state so I am optimistic that a strong shared governance team can continue and build upon the work we began.
I will miss each of you dearly, but Connecticut is a small state. I look forward to following the district’s endeavors and wish you and all Stratford children the very best.
