Short Beach Summer 5K Run or Walk

Short Beach: 1 Dorne Rd, Stratford
Saturday, August 6th

This event is limited to 350 people
Sponsored by MS Running Productions to Benefit MADD

We are thrilled to be hosting the third edition of our Lordship – Short Beach community event. 2020 it was the first running event in town after restrictions were lifted. Over 160 people enjoyed a safe, modified run. Last year we had 191. This year we plan to go over that number! Don’t get shut out. We will limit this to 350 runners.

*We will have protocols in place for safety, and will follow all best practices as set forth by our town and state.  *We are counting on you to help in carrying out all safety procedures on your end so that we can have a very successful event, and do this again with the town’s approval! “

All Abilities are Encouraged. You can run or walk this 5K (3.1mi) course. Everyone that enters is part of our computer-timed event and eligible for awards. If you chose NOT to be timed please let us know when you pick up your bib.

We do not offer a shorter walk option this year. Instead, the “Walk like MADD”  follows the 5K at 10 a.m. as a separate event. Information & details: www.walklikemadd.org/fairfield

Please Note – – this 5K event is Not the MADD Dash. This is the third year for the event designed and owned by MS Running Productions. This year our primary charity partner is MADD CT which will use donations to help them with their programs.

We encourage and support wearing masks for anyone who may feel safer with one.  The goal of the event is to provide a truly fun running experience for the participants while adhering to all CT safety guidelines.

The start / finish line will be in the Short Beach lot near the registration pavilion. The course map link is: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7584124

The Finish:  After participants finish they will receive an email link to access their finishing time.  A list of overall finishing times for all competitors will be continually updated while the race is in progress. By 10 a.m. the final race results should be posted.

The Aquarian water truck will be on-site for participants at the finish.  We will provide granola bars and/or packaged snacks, bananas & a sealed bottle of water.

Additionally, all participants must adhere to the following requirements:

  • Participants are required to be completely self-sufficient. There may be a water stop on the course – we will let you know. Carry your own fluids to be safe and please DO NOT DROP them on the course!
  • Participants must follow all CDC guidelines.
  • Except for passing, participants should always remain safe to the left side of the road unless otherwise indicated by cones, signs, or volunteers. Most of the course is measured and set up to the left side, facing traffic, as directed by state law.
  • Participants passing one another on the course must adhere to “no drafting” rules KEEPING DISTANCE between other runners at any time.
  • Please follow all instructions of the course marshals and only cross the street when instructed to do so by the police or course volunteers.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and adherence to all safe practices so that we are able to offer competitive events like this in the future.

This event is produced by MS Running Productions & Marty Schaivone, with great help from Jim Gerweck (timer), the MADD-CT staff, and the town departments of Stratford. Email msrunningproductions@yahoo.com with any event questions.

Thank you for your support!  We look forward to seeing you here and in the future.

Please arrive by 8 a.m. or you may not be allowed free access into the beach without a sticker.  The town policy is ‘resident’s cars only’ into the park. The Recreation Department has been a wonderful supporter and granted us access BEFORE the beach officially opens at 8 am. In order for us to have you ready and safe, please be here by 8 a.m.

Town Ordinance: No Dogs Allowed.
