Stratford Celebrates Our First National Pollinator Week

Pollinator Week from June 20th to June 26th

Judson House Historic Gardens
Gather and meet in the Judson House Historic Gardens June 25th at 2 p.m.

Though this is Stratford’s first pollinator week, it has been recognized by the Federal Government: Pollinator Week is an official designated week by the 109th Congress,(2005-2006) : S.Res.580 – A resolution recognizing the importance of pollinators to ecosystem health and agriculture in the United States and the value of partnership efforts to increase awareness about pollinators and support for protecting and sustaining pollinators by designating June 24 through June 30 as “National Pollinator Week”.

Jean Puchalski, a Board Member of Pollinator Pathway, will be the featured speaker.  (https://www.pollinator-pathway.org/)

Insights on Pollinator Pathway’s will also be discussed by the garden managers of our Pollinator Pathways at Shakespeare Park, Boothe, Stratford Animal Control, Stratford Library, Longbrook, and the Stratford Beautification Committee.

The Judson House Historic Gardens are themed, growing plants and herbs that were specific to the colonial era, along with information and education on their uses. Medicinal, culinary, aromatic and some just for plain beauty. Some that we can and still use to this day.

A new addition to our gardens is a beautiful Pollinator Demonstration Garden. As we are proudly part of the “Pollinator Pathway”, in this garden, we hope to demonstrate and educate others with clear, real-life examples of the valuable services that all our pollinators provide, and how easy it is to support them. We offer public programming that engage and educate our Stratford community and beyond on the importance of our local pollinators, and hopefully, encourage others to create their own pollinator gardens.

All are welcome to Judson House to celebrate and be educated on pollinator pathways.   A special announcement will be made on this day. There will also be a demonstration on making a Butterfly Puddler, (feeding station) 10 lucky people will get a chance to make and take! #PollinatorWeek #pollinatorpathway.
