Stratford High School has been requested to perform at Pearl Harbor as a token of their appreciation and gratitude to war veterans.
Head of the Stratford High School Band Department, Doc Ryan, has had a lifelong dream to perform at Pearl Harbor. Doc Ryan teaches approximately 60 plus students all throughout school periods 2, 4, and 6.
The entire music department, cheerleaders, and dance team are scheduled to perform in Hawaii on Wednesday, December 4th. The total cost per student is $2,600. Enough funds were allocated for the music department, cheerleaders, and dance team to go to Hawaii.
At 8:30, they will leave for the North Shore in the Polynesian Cultural Center, where they’ll visit the Dole Plantation, World Famous Banzai pipeline, Waimea Bay, and Sunset Beach.
In addition to performing at Pearl Harbor students will participate in other activities, such as hiking, observing nature trails, shopping, and visiting the local beaches and pools.
Wooster Middle School recommended their musically talented students explore their gifts further by participating in the Hawaii trip with Stratford High School. This is an extraordinary opportunity for students to perform for honored war veterans.
Sakayra Williams, a student from Stratford High School, is over the moon to be playing “Carol of the Bells”. She adequately enjoys the thrill and excitement of the instruments. “The music and air clashes to create a spiraling harmony,” she says.
