Day Of Hope And Healing Special Performance

The Stratford Library Children’s Department will offer Drumming About You: Day Of Hope And Healing Special Performance. The performance and sing-along by drum leader Bob Bloom for all ages on Tuesday, May 16th at 2:30 p.m.

The program is courtesy of the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund. This special event is free but registration is required at: stratfordlibrary.org, then choose Events.

Bob Bloom leads play-along music on hand drums for schools, recreation sites, senior and community centers, disabilities and healthcare facilities, performances, social work activities, and corporate events.

A “Master Teaching Artist” by The Connecticut Office of the Arts, his arts-integration presentations are joyous and educational for students in grades pre-kindergarten to twelve. They meet state and national standards of learning.

For nearly two decades, Bob served as a faculty assistant to Dr. Babatunde Olatunji for his Language of the Drums courses at The Omega Institute, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and Rowe Conference Center. From 2007 to 2010, he was the chair of the Interactive Drumming Committee of The Percussive Arts Society, the largest percussion organization in the world.

He drummed and sang as a performance member of Drums of Passion, Dr. Olatunji’s legendary drumming and dance company at concert venues including Lincoln Center, The Washington Monument, Jorgenson Hall, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
