Sikorsky Airport Extension

Share

by State Representative Ben McGorty (R)
122nd District

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I’m writing to you today to provide you with an update and to hear your opinion regarding ongoing plans for the future of Sikorsky Memorial Airport.

The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is currently pursuing a long-term lease of Sikorsky Airport, which is currently owned by the City of Bridgeport.

The deal could potentially involve the offering of expanded commercial air-travel (similar to expansion plans for Tweed Airport in New Haven) at the airport. There is also reportedly a desire from city officials in Bridgeport that the airport’s name be changed to ‘Bridgeport Sikorsky Memorial Airport’.

What do you think?

  1. Should Sikorsky Airport’s services be expanded to include commercial air-travel?
  2. Should Sikorsky Memorial Airport be renamed ‘Bridgeport Sikorsky Memorial Airport’?

As your state representative, know that I will do my part to ensure the voices of Stratford residents are heard and reflected in future plans for the airport.
