Washington Bridge Closures and Repairs

Dear Neighbor,

Connecticut DOT announced that there will be intermittent lane closures on Route 1 as well as temporary deviations of the drawbridge operation regulations that govern the Washington Bridge carrying Route 1 over Housatonic River, in the towns of Milford and Stratford.

This project is tentatively set to be completed by June 30, 2022.

LANE CLOSURE INFO –

Motorists can expect lane closures on U.S. Route 1 during day and nighttime between Orchard Street and Riverside Drive. The allowable work hours for this project are as follows;

Monday – Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.;

Friday – Saturday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.;

Saturday – Sunday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.; and

Sunday – Monday between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Future notifications will be provided to detail anticipated road closures with appropriate detours to be implemented. The Contractor shall be allowed to close U.S. Route 1 and detour vehicular and pedestrian traffic for certain stages of the project.
