Saturday August 5th Short Beach 5K Run and 1.3 Mile Walk will start at 8:30 a.m. Awards presentation is at 9:30 a.m. There is a race day registration online only & ends at 8:25 a.m. on August 5th. Our charity partner is MADD CT (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). All donations help MADD fund their programs and continue their mission to support and represent victims and their families. They will also be collecting non-perishable foods for the Sterling House Community Center food bank. Please bring your donations to pre-pickup on Friday, August 4th noon to 3:30 p.m., or at the event on Saturday.

Saturday, August 5th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food Drive to benefit Stratford Animal Control. They are collecting pet food and pet supplies for the shelter animals. They are also collecting donations for Sterling House’s pantry.

Shakespeare Market Weekend! July was a wash, but we’re getting back out there this Sunday from 10 a.m. -2 p.m.! Elana Zabari will be performing, and the Stratford’s Housatonic Cycling Club will be gathering and taking a ride starting at 10 a.m. and ending at the market! The Housatonic Cycling Club ride will be from Shakespeare Park to the McKinney Wildlife Refuge and back.

Sunday, August 6th beginning at 3 p.m. at Boothe Park’s Putney Chapel a free concert by acoustic guitarist Christian Aja. The concert is free, but donations would be appreciated. Sponsored by the Boothe Park’s Putney Chapel Association.

Monday, August 7th, Paradise Green Farmers Market. Fruits, vegetables, snacks, and more. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

StoryWalk 5: Monday, August 7th-13th- Stratford Veterans Museum at Boothe Park. Main Event: Enjoy a celebration of Stratford Veterans on Saturday, August 12th at 1 p.m. at Boothe Park. Whitehead Weekend General Aviation Fly-In at Igor Sikorsky Memorial Airport on Saturday and Sunday, August 12th and 13th. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. All aircraft welcome. Sponsored by the Connecticut Air & Space Center.

Saturday, August 19th Neighborhood Breakfast at Stratford United Methodist Church, free community breakfast 8:30-10:00 a.m. on the 3rd Saturday of each month: July 15th and August 19th. They offer hot food and community for those in need. Enter through the back of the church. Enjoy a meal and visit the thrift shop, which has affordable clothing, toys, and household items.

September 9th, Violet Willows Concert to benefit the Stratford Education Foundation, providing free books to Stratford’s preschoolers through The Imagination Library.
