Project 2025 is a proposal to reinvent our government. While Donald Trump has distanced himself from the plan, it was written by his close associates. This is part of our series intended to provide food for thought, and highlights how the plan would affect our lives.
Cost of Living and You
Are you concerned with the cost of living?
For sure, we all feel the pinch at the grocery store and the gas pump. While Project 2025 aims to cut costs by streamlining government, it includes some plans that could affect your pocketbook.
- Project 2025 would repeal the Inflation Reduction Act, meaning drug companies could charge higher prices. [page 465]
- It calls for phasing down H-2A Visas, leading to labor shortages and higher labor costs for farmers, forcing some of them out of business, which would mean reduced food production and higher food prices. [page 611]
- Project 2025 wants to eliminate CEP (Community Eligibility Program), so needy children would no longer get free school meals. [page 303]
- The plan for reforming the Affordable Care Act would lead to loss of heath care coverage, reduced consumer protections, and increased out-of-pocket costs for Americans. [page 469]
- Replacing Universal Day Care with “Home-based” childcare means affordable childcare would be reduced and virtually impossible for low-income, working families. [page 486]
