Project 2025 is a proposal to reinvent our government. While Donald Trump has distanced himself from the plan, it was written by his close associates. This is part of our series intended to provide food for thought, and highlights how the plan would affect our lives.
Working People Like You
What are the biggest challenges for you as a working person?
In addition to general cost of living, you likely feel as most people do, that taxes, food prices and housing are what concern you most. In view of that, you might want to consider the following:
- Project 2025 advocates two flat tax rates of 15% and 30%, which will raise taxes for working families.
- It would remove most tax deductions and credits for the middle class. [page 696]
- Project 2025 would reform the Department of Agriculture (USDA), increasing advantages for agricultural big business with less concern for environmental issues like climate change and public nutrition. [page 290]
- It would reform the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to favor of the interests of landlords and real estate companies. That makes it even harder for Americans to pay for a home or apartment, and the lack of affordable housing would only increase homelessness.
