Three Democratic candidates have submitted enough petition signatures to qualify for a Sept. 9th party primary election.
Linda Manos submitted more than the 650 certified signatures needed to qualify for a primary election for the party’s nomination for Mayor. She will be opposed by Dr. David Chess, who was endorsed by the Stratford Democratic Town Committee for the mayoral position.
Current Town Council member Alvin O’Neal submitted more than the 91 certified signatures needed for him to quality for a Town Council primary in District 3 (Johnson Academy/Johnson House). He will be opposed William Boyd, who was endorsed by the SDTC for the position.
David Harden also gathered enough signatures to force a primary for the party nomination in District 4 (Franklin School). He will be opposed by incumbent Town Council member Rene Gibson, who was endorsed by the party.
The petition certification was completed Saturday and announced by James Simon, the Democratic Registrar of Voters. There were no challenges to the Republican slate of candidates, so only registered Democrats will be voting in the Sept. 9 primary election.
All 10 usual polling locations will be open on Tuesday Sept. 9 for the election. Simon said Early Voting also will be available at The Baldwin Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 2nd – 7th. All registered Democrats in town are eligible to vote in the mayoral contest.
