Team USA Women’s soccer vs Brazil

Kick off: 11 am ET, Saturday, August 10th

Location: Paris – Parc des Princes
TV channel: USA Network

Team USA is attempting to win its first gold medal in Football (aka Soccer) since the 2012 games. It didn’t medal in 2016 and won the bronze at the previous Olympics.

Alyssa is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States national team. She was on the 23-player roster for the United States at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was the starting goalkeeper for the U.S. at the 2019 FIFA World Cup in France. She has also played for the Boston Breakers and Turbine Potsdam. She was named NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year while with the Breakers in 2014.

Naeher, a Stratford resident, attended Christian Heritage School, where she was a standout player in soccer. She was a three-time All-State and three-time FAA All-Conference selection. In addition to this, she was a Parade All-American and two-time NSCAA Youth All-American. Naeher also was a star basketball player scoring over 2,000 points during her career.

Per ESPN Stats & Information, Naeher’s five combined penalty saves (two in-game and three during shootouts) puts her at a tie for the most among all goalkeepers in the last five Women’s World Cups or Olympics. She’s the only goalkeeper to score a penalty in those five tournaments.

Is Alyssa Naeher the Greatest Olympic Goalkeeper in USA History?

With a breathtaking performance, Naeher matches a historic record of clean sheets?

MLS Multiplex ( https://mlsmultiplex.com/):  Alyssa Naeher steps up as the heir to this legacy, and what an heir she is! With four clean sheets in her Olympic career – one in 2020 and three in 2024 – Naeher has not only matched the record of another American goalkeeping legend, Briana Scurry, but also reignited the fans’ passion for seeing a solid and impenetrable defense. This achievement places her in the hall of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the USWNT (United States Women’s National Team), shedding new light on a position that often stays out of the spotlight.
