Letter From The Editor

Share

Dear Neighbor,

As we come off the celebratory time of the 4th of July, having lit up the sky with fireworks and enthusiasm, allowing that childhood wonder to return, even if just for one night – it can feel…magical. For me, the noise was a bit much, and the smells, also a bit much for my senses.

In this week’s issue of our beloved Stratford Crier, Norah Christianson shares in her weekly column, Notes From Beyond The Pale, her inimitable thoughts on the value of laughter (do animals laugh?), and what it means to ask such questions, to be present, to be still…while that morning coffee brews. What comes to mind upon your waking…and what, if anything, might you do with the questions that arise, just as you do with the sun? It’s a question (pun intended) we must ask ourselves constantly—are we asking enough questions, the right questions, to understand the situation – whatever “it” is? Do we need to do the research to get to the answers, and I hope, the resounding answer is always a YES!

In his Letter to the Editor, David Chess, MD, speaks about asking the right questions, as he speaks about running for mayor of Stratford, and gearing up for this election season. And then, there is ICE. While we might hear less about them in the news, they still are around, working to arrest people. Doing their jobs, but at what cost? In next week’s issue of the Stratford Crier, I consider this in my article, and ask the question of – is ICE in Stratford? If you or your family has personal experience with ICE, please reach out to me and consider sharing your story in the Stratford Crier. If you choose to share your story, and want to be kept anonymous, we will ensure your anonymity.

Wishing you a week of interesting questions, and useful answers!
