Author Peter Bacho Will Host Zoom Workshop
Saturday, March 1st, 10 AM-12 PM
Free and open to the public
Participants attending the writing workshop with author Peter Bacho will learn the basics of writing a memoir, starting with what a memoir isn’t, i.e., it is not an essay.
A memoir is another form of storytelling, and as such, it uses the same techniques as effective novels: dialogue, action, drama, climax, etc. Participants will be given assignments and will share their results for comment and constructive critique.
Instructor Peter Bacho presented writing sessions at the San Francisco Public Library, the King County Public Library, the Hayward Public Library, the Sno-Isle Public Library, and the Detroit Public Library. He also teaches a class on memoir at The Evergreen State College. Among his many honors are an American Book Award and a Washington Governor’s Writers Award. His latest book, Uncle Rico’s Encore, a collection of mini-memoirs about Filipino American Seattle, has received consistent and high literary praise.
