Sharp Rise in Energy Bills: A Call to Action

Share

State Representative Joe Gresko, (D)
121st Connecticut House District

Dear Neighbor, The latest increase in electric rates, approved by our utility regulators, is a significant concern for many. That’s why I’ve submitted a formal motion to PURA, requesting a reconsideration of the recent rate adjustments for United Illuminating. These unprecedented energy costs are creating financial strain for many in our community.

PURA has the power to reverse or modify these decisions in light of changing conditions, and that’s exactly what I’m pushing for. It’s time to reopen the proceedings and explore options like making payments in regular installments over time to ease the financial strain on families and businesses. It is essential that we prioritize fairness and ensure that you are not hit with unexpected and overwhelming costs. Below is the letter that I sent to PURA (Public Utilities Regulatory Authority)

As always, if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact my office at (860) 240-8585 or email me directly.

  1. I do not understand why we are paying for someone else who didn’t pay during COVID That’s not our problem we paid our bills. And as far as the electric vehicle stations no one wants those and the people who do want them let them pay for it or better yet where’s the COVID money Governor Lamont you take care of it that’s what the money was given to you for.

  2. I live on my Social Security check. We are only expected to receive a 3% raise this year! How can I afford to pay these exorbitant bills???? What do I do???
