Alpha Community Services YMCA
The Alpha Community Services YMCA, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, extends a personal invitation for you to have a hand in ending chronic homelessness in our community.
Alpha Community Services YMCA provides emergency shelter for families in the City of Bridgeport and surrounding communities. Their services go beyond an initial shelter – they currently operate a Cold Weather Shelter for individuals plus supportive housing for chronic homeless families and single adults; Rapid Rehousing for individuals and families and Navigation Services for all populations. The Y programs include 45 beds dedicated for emergency family shelter and over 450 residential units of supportive housing. They truly are saving lives!
This work cannot be done alone, and each holiday season, the YMCA Home for the Holidays event helps to spread awareness and raise funding for the services provided by the Alpha Community Services YMCA – from shelter to the acquisition of apartments to gaining independence, improving daily living skills and integrating into the community.
A Home for the Holidays is held each December, and celebrates the home everyone deserves. This year, A New Home for the Holidays has a NEW home — Waldemere Hall on the University of Bridgeport campus. You can help share in this important work, and this exciting event.
