There is no greater investment a society can make than in its young people. They are the innovators, leaders, and workforce of tomorrow. Yet, too often, we fall short in providing them with the resources, training, and opportunities needed to reach their full potential. Recently, the Education and Children’s Committees held a Joint Informational Forum on this issue, and the Labor Committee will soon consider legislation on youth workforce development. If we truly want to create a thriving economy and a more prosperous future in Connecticut, we must make investing in youth workforce development a top priority.
Across Connecticut, young people are eager to work, contribute, and build successful lives. However, barriers such as limited job opportunities, a lack of relevant skills training, and an education system that does not fully prepare them for the demands of the modern workforce stand in their way.This is especially true in industries that are rapidly evolving due to technological advancements. Without the right support, we risk leaving an entire generation behind.
One of the most effective ways to bridge this gap is by expanding vocational training and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs. Connecticut is home to a number of advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and emerging biotech-driven industries, yet many employers report difficulty finding qualified workers. Expanding technical education at institutions like the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) and strengthening partnerships with companies such as Electric Boat, Pratt & Whitney, and Sikorsky can help build a strong pipeline from education to employment.
Investing in youth workforce development is not just about preparing individuals for employment; it is about keeping Connecticut competitive. The state has struggled with an exodus of young professionals seeking better opportunities elsewhere. By fostering a more dynamic workforce through better job training, partnerships with employers, and incentives for businesses to hire locally, we can encourage young talent to stay and thrive in Connecticut.
If we want to build a future where every young person in Connecticut has the opportunity to succeed, we need leaders who will champion workforce development policies and fight for the funding necessary to expand these initiatives.
This is why we must take bold action. Governments at all levels should prioritize funding for vocational training centers, STEM education, and workforce development programs.
Businesses should step up to provide mentorship and apprenticeship opportunities. And as a society, we must shift our mindset from seeing young people as inexperienced workers to recognizing them as the foundation of our economic future.
By voting for me, you are voting for a leader who will put Connecticut’s youth first. I will work tirelessly to ensure that every young person has access to the education, training, and job opportunities they need to build a successful future right here in our state.
The path to prosperity starts with investing in our youth. If we equip them with the tools they need to succeed today, Connecticut will reap the benefits tomorrow.

Maybe we stop the indoctrination & social engineering in schools and focus on academics and vocational education. Look at the state of our workforce – today’s children need to be equipped to earn an honest living in a competitive world. They don’t need more ‘feel good’ programs.
Terrific goals for our future Tony! Thanks for getting the message out there. Thanks to all the Stratfordites who came out and supported Tony! He won in Stratford, but the rest of CT Senate District 21 needs to become more enlightened.
