As the election season is off and running we should all be looking at election financing.
Hoydick leads Chess in funding accumulated from Jan. 1 to March 31 with $31,575 in individual and committee contributions. Not unexpectedly, her top $1,000 donors are town employees.
Looking at Laura Hoydick’s numbers, her 2025 campaign is showing $77,000 brought in. This is down $32,000 from the same period filing in 2021 when she ran for her first re-election. 2021 showed $109,000 had been brought in.
Laura came into the mayor’s chair in 2017, and her October filing that year showed her campaign with $45,000 and on that she won a 3-way race by 600 votes.
In 2021 Laura crushed it in fundraising and vote total in a 1 vs 1 race against Immacula Cann, who’s October filing that year had Cann at $70,000.
This year it’s the opposite. Chess raised $106K to Laura’s $77K. Laura does have a PAC named Riseley which is showing $27K, which I’m sure will be used towards what could be Laura’s last hurrah.
Hoydick’s Riseley PAC posted a $26,277 balance in its October 10th filing. The PAC only received one donation during the last quarter which was $25 from council woman Whitham (bringing her Riseley donation total to $375). The PAC is in great position for Stratford’s 2025 Mayor campaign.

Laura does have the edge being the incumbent and I don’t believe she’s ever lost a campaign, but this year is looking to be a real challenge for her to pull off another win and cash in on a third term in the mayor’s chair.
What is that worth pension and benefit wise?
