The call came in at approximately 1:45am, reporting a shooting at 74 Feeley Street. There, a man lay dying, and another, the apparent shooter of 41-year-old Terrence Cramer, a Bridgeport Firefighter, was evading police. It was Terrence whose body lay there in the street, and who was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Captain Jerry Pinto of the Stratford Police Department said of Cramer, “You should all know that it is our duty and responsibility to bring honor to the memory of our fallen firefighter brother.”
We spoke with Captain Pinto about the shooting. He said, “I am extremely proud to have had the privilege to manage such a talented group of investigators, SRT personnel and task force officers. Yesterday, none of us were going home until we had captured this dangerous convicted felon, and removed his ability to cause future violence against the citizens of Connecticut.” And that they did.
With the help of the Shelton, Seymour and New Haven police departments, plus the Connecticut State Police, that very afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m., police units pursued and arrested 41-year-old Jabari Bush of Derby. He was charged with three crimes: murder, home invasion and criminal possession of a firearm. Pinto said, “Their personal and collaborative work-ethic is what brought this investigation to a successful conclusion. Bush is being held in lieu of a $2,000,000 bond. He will appear in court on Monday, March 30th.”
