Letter to the Editor: Let’s Return Civility to Stratford

Stratford used to be a friendly and very civil town. Until one election year a candidate promised to “return civility to Stratford” and sadly, accomplished the opposite.

That civility has forsaken our friendly town is evident by the mass theft of Harris signs all over town. Its an act motivated by misplaced hatred and by following, and following blindly at that, the Cri de Guerre emanating from the election trail.

My plea to the enthusiastic, but misinformed residents who thought stealing yard signs may change their fellow residents’ vote is: “please do your own thinking.” Just because the national scene is fraught with animosity, hatred, revenge and what not, you don’t have to follow the lead of venomous candidates. This is Stratford. Not D.C. We all live here and love our town. Let’s return civility to Stratford. This time, for real.
