HARTFORD, CT — State Senator Jason Perillo, State Representative Ben McGorty, State Representative Joseph Gresko, and State Representative Kaitlyn Shake today praised the Bonding Committee for approving $5.5 million in Community Investment Fund (CIF) support for a critical flood mitigation project at Ferry Boulevard and Broad Street in Stratford.
The approved funding will support major infrastructure improvements. These upgrades are designed to reduce chronic flooding, improve roadway safety, and enhance long-term resiliency for residents, businesses, and commuters in the area.
“This funding approval is a major milestone for Stratford and a testament to years of advocacy to address persistent flooding in this area,” said Sen. Perillo. “I also want to recognize Senator Kelly, who encouraged me to make this a priority CIF project, and I’m thrilled to see it move forward. By investing in smarter, more resilient infrastructure, we are protecting our community, strengthening a vital transportation corridor, and positioning Stratford for the future.”
“My thanks to the members of the Stratford delegation, the CIF board, and the state bonding commission for supporting this worthwhile infrastructure that will significantly mitigate persistent flooding at Ferry Boulevard and Broad Street,” said Representative McGorty.
“I’m very pleased to see this funding given final approval by the State Bond Commission,” said Rep. Joseph Gresko. “Thank you to Governor Lamont and the State Bond Commission for seeing the importance of this project. When completed, it will reduce flooding on Ferry Boulevard and permit the stormwater pumping station on Ferry Creek.”
“I’m grateful to the State Bond Commission for approving $5.5 million for the Ferry Boulevard and Broad Street flood mitigation project in the 120th District,” said Representative Kaitlyn Shake. “This funding supports one of Stratford’s critical infrastructure improvement projects and will help protect residents and businesses in the Ferry Creek area from frequent coastal flooding. Thank you to the State Bond Commission and Governor Lamont for supporting and approving this critical funding for Stratford.”
This funding was approved by the State Bond Commission today. Construction is anticipated to begin in January 2026 and conclude by October 2027.
