Since 1918, The War Amps has met the needs of war amputees. Today, the Association continues to serve them, and all Canadian amputees, including children. This year, The War Amps is celebrating 50 years of CHAMP! In 1975, the amputee veterans who founded The War Amps built upon their philosophy of “amputees helping amputees” by creating the Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program. Through childhood to adulthood, CHAMP provides child amputees with artificial limbs, lasting peer connections, advocacy and resources on living with amputation.
