Project 2025 is a proposal to reinvent our government. While Donald Trump has distanced himself from the plan, it was written by his close associates. This is part of our series intended to provide food for thought, and highlights how the plan would affect our lives.
Social Security and You
Do you rely on Social Security? Or, perhaps you’re counting on it in the future?
After a lifetime of hard work we all look forward to a comfortable retirement. While Project 2025 does not address this directly, the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) 2025 plan calls for dramatic cuts to Social Security, forcing us to work longer and retire on less. Here’s how:
- Up the full retirement age to 69. (Socialsecurityworks.org, Centerfor Americanprogress.org)
- Under the Republican Study Committee plan, with cuts to benefits of over $1.5 trillion, a middle-income retiree stands to lose up to $100,000 over 10 years. (CenterforAmericanprogress.org, Socialsecurityworks.org)
- The RSC plan proposes phasing out spousal and child benefits. (Socialsecurityworks.org)
- Roll back Medicare’s ability to negotiate and lower drug prices for seniors. (Socialsecurityworks.org, Project 2025 p.465)
On November 5th, VOTE for what matters to you.
Such important information. Trump has distanced himself from project 2025,claims to know nothing about it and the forward to the manifesto was written by his buddy JD Vance. When does Trump lie? When he opens his mouth.
