The Arts Alliance of Stratford “A Night With A Playwright” will feature a salon style event featuring Jack B. Levine on Thursday, May 15th from 6-8 p.m. at Sterling Community Center.
Levine has published books on Amazon.Com, including An Anthology of Plays, 27 plays he has written, Primer for the Performing Arts, his experiences in writing, stand up comedy, person storytelling, Tales of Mirth and Madness, seven short fictional stories , Parodies and Comedy Skits, Live Love & Learn, and Laughing Out Loud: A Memoir.
Jack has had several of his plays performed onstage and online many of his 28 plays
are 10 to 12 minutes.
Jack had a fifty-year career in finance, accounting, and operations. When he retired as chief financial officer, he decided to try something new. Over the past nine years he has been an improv performer, standup comedian, personal storyteller, actor, author and playwright.
Some of Levine’s credits include Grandpa Joe in ‘Willie Wonka’ at Broadway on Main in East Haven; Officer Brophy in “Arsenic and Old Lace” (his first acting experience) at Elim Park in Cheshire; Mr. DePinna in “You Can’t Take It With You” at a venue in Glastonbury; two years in The Suffield Players New Faces performances (“This Ferry Ride” and “The Golden Years”), and three years in The Orange Players Acting Up! performances (“You Haven’t Changed A Bit”, “Zooming Thru Life” and “153’). Levine has also performed online, including George in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” and Paul in “Such Small Hands”.
Jack also taught an introduction to acting class at the University of Connecticut – Waterbury adult education program. He is the creator and administrator of “Forum for Friendly Playwrights, Actors and Theater Lovers”, a private Facebook group with over 1,100 members. Jack is a Dramatists Guild Member.
