Stratford, CT — Dr. David Chess today announced that while a single debate has been scheduled in Oronoque Village, he believes limiting such a critical opportunity for discussion to only one subset of Stratford voters is unfair to the community at large.
The debate, hosted by the League of Women Voters, is open only to Oronoque Village residents. While Dr. Chess values every chance to engage with voters, he emphasized that the democratic process requires equal access to information and open dialogue across all neighborhoods.
“Every voter in Stratford deserves the opportunity to hear directly from both candidates, to compare our visions, and to ask the questions that matter most to them,” said Dr. Chess. “Restricting a debate to one group excludes thousands of Stratford residents who deserve transparency and accountability from those seeking to lead.”
Dr. Chess reiterated his willingness to participate in additional debates that are open to all Stratford voters and called on his opponent to join him in making that commitment.
“Stratford is one community, and our voters should not be divided when it comes to access to information,” Chess added. “I stand ready to debate anytime, anywhere, for the benefit of all Stratford residents.”

If ever there was a time for public debate as the doorway to public office it is now. Surely our current mayor will welcome Dr. Chess’s generous invitation.Certainly she should. There is much to answer for.
There is no better time than now to hear what our candidates have to say in a debate setting
I think it should be more than two and they should be in big venues so that as many people that are interested can attend. My husband and I are new to town and a debate that all townspeople can attend would be so helpful and needed before an election .
I would like to see a debate in the afternoon or early evening at the Baldwin Center.
Dr Chess is 100% correct. We need a debate that we can ALL attend. Let us all see the transparency, or lack thereof that we have all been victim to the past eight years.
The debate should be at Stratford High School Auditorium. That would make it inclusive of all who are interested in attending this “landscape changing” event.
Bring it on! Stratford High School. One Tuesday evening could work.
I agree with Dr Chess about opening up the debate to Stratford residents even if it means making a reservation to attend. There has been no more important time in our country to be informed and limiting debate participation is blatantly unAmerican.
As I write this, I am so excited for my little home town of Stratford!!!!
We now have “HONESTY” for the first time since I can remember.
This man of “altruistic” values will make our town truly a home for everyone.
I am so elated and excited for what is on the horizon here in town.
Goodbye to the nonsense that made our town a laughing stock.
Hello progress!!!
Good luck Doc!!! Thank You to you and your lovely family, fury ones included!
Also: Note all the Dem team members in the background who brought this to fruition!
