Dear Readers,
Summer is peeking its proverbial head around the corner, and with summer, perhaps fewer rain showers. Yesterday, I spent the day at the Main Street Festival, an annual event organized by the Stratford Rotary Club, and which ended in one of those showers! I had the opportunity there to speak with quite a few people, some of whom traveled from neighboring towns to enjoy food, crafts, merchandise, face painting, henna, and many other fun activities from over 335 vendors. It was a wonderful community event. Our thanks to those who stopped by our booth to say how much they enjoy reading the Stratford Crier. It helps us know we’re on the right track.
That’s largely due to my predecessor, Barbara Heimlich. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Barbara, who spent the last five years as editor-in-chief of the Stratford Crier, in addition to being the main reporter on news throughout the community, including environment, social justice, Town Hall and events around town. She was here at its inception and was instrumental in the expansion of the paper, broadening what we cover here at the Stratford Crier, and elevating our voice in the community we all love. Thank you, Barbara, for giving so much over the past five years as reporter and editor—two big jobs. We look forward to your new role as Features Reporter, continuing the work you love. Please join me in a heartfelt virtual round of applause for Barbara!
Thank you for writing such a beautiful tribute to Barbara Heimlich. She dedicated her heart and soul to launching the Stratford Crier as a valuable resource for our community, helping to elevate local voices in Stratford. Barbara continues to serve as a volunteer with many community groups, including as a valuable member of the Rotary Club of Stratford. We look forward to reading her articles as a contributing reporter.
Thanks you Barbara. Job well done !! Looking forward to your reporting!!
Thank you Nikkya for opening the door to our next phase of development.
Stratford is an amazing place to live with wonderful people, history and natural riches. It deserves a dedicated community driven and oriented news journal.
