Sweet Mother Inc. Fourteenth Annual Awards Dinneron Saturday, September 21st at the Water’s Edge at Giovanni’s will be honoring women who, within the confines of their homes, have been successful in balancing motherhood with their business, their profession and in their community. These women are celebrities as mothers because of what they have accomplished in a very humble, loving, caring, and nurturing way.
Our Sweet mother events have also honored foster mothers, single mothers, and adoptive mothers. All of them deserve our appreciation as they have all played the role successfully.
This night of celebration not only honors the outstanding accomplishments and strength of ordinary women, but it also helps to raise funds to allot underprivileged girls, here in the state of Connecticut at the MacFlane Project for girls in Bridgeport. These are girls who are at risk and through an excellent mentoring program they have been able to attend Colleges and Universities.
Funds raised at the awards event are also used to provide annual scholarships for the Forum of African Women Educationalist (FAWE), Secondary School for girls in Waterloo Village, and the Ebola Orphans at the FAWE Grafton School for Girls. Sierra Leone.
This year we are Fund Raising specifically for the girls at the MacFlane Project in Bridgeport and towards University Fees for our second set of six girls who have made it from FAWE School to Universities in Sierra Leone. Many of these girls have been brutalized, kidnapped, and raped, during a 10-year war in Sierra Leone and the girls at the Ebola Orphans School for girls lost their parents during the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone. They have struggled under very difficult circumstances to make it to universities and the FAWE School gave them refuge, since they have lost everything.
