Stratford Veterans Museum
5952 Main Street
During the month of November, the Stratford Veterans Museum is saluting artist and diorama builder Richard Dana Kuchta. Kuchta, well known for his military dioramas, has been featured in displays and shows in multiple venues, including City Lights in Bridgeport and Russell Jinishian Gallery in Fairfield.
Kuchta has donated to the Stratford Veterans Museum a detailed diorama of the D-Day Landings on Omaha Beach, presently on display at the Stratford Library.

Kuchta’s miniature subjects have included fly fishing and whaling and can be viewed on his website, Sportsman’s Palette, Inc.
Also on display during November leading up to the Veterans Day Parade are the 40 banners that will be going up on Main Street and Barnum Avenue honoring Stratford veterans. This is the 4th year for the banners, which according to Bill O’Brien, a founding member and treasurer of the museum, cost $50 each and have been underwritten by a “generous donor” who pays for them each year. “The best part of the display of these banners,” says O’Brien,“is that when they are removed, they are presented to the veteran’s families.”
The well attended highlight for Stratford Veterans in November will be the 3rd Annual Veterans Day Parade, Saturday, November 8th.

The Parade will step off at Stratford Town Hall at 11 a.m. to go to Academy Hill. Rides will be available for any Veteran with mobility limitations
All town residents are welcome to participate, with registration to march closing on Friday, October 31st, at 4:00 p.m.
The parade will feature floats, Drum & Bugle Corps, the Governor’s Horse Guard, armored vehicles, color guards, and a helicopter.
The Stratford Veterans Museum honors all veterans with photos, including videos from veterans detailing their service, multiple dioramas representing scenes from U.S. military history beginning with the Revolutionary War, and donated artifacts from our veterans.
