On this day 13 years ago, twenty-six people—teachers, students, and school staff—were gunned down, their lives taken in a senseless act at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. May we take today to pause, reflect, and honor the twenty-six people who lost their lives that day, including Vicki Soto, a first grade teacher and Stratford resident. Leading with love, that is what Vicki did in her classroom, and that is what Mayor Chess asked of our community when he opened the final town council meeting of the year on December 8th following his inauguration.
