Microchip Scanner Station
Stratford Animal Control, 225 Beacon Point Road
The Town of Stratford is delighted to announce the installation of a pet microchip scanner station at the Animal Control Facility located at 225 Beacon Point Rd, made possible by a generous donation from the Stratford Animal Rescue Society.
In cases where the shelter is closed or the animal control team is unavailable, this new microchip scanner station is conveniently positioned in front of the animal control building. This innovative tool aims to facilitate the prompt reunion of lost pets with their owners.
If you encounter a lost animal, we encourage you to utilize the scanner for a quick microchip check. The station features clear instructions for operation, as well as a hotline to assist in contacting the pet’s owner. Together, we can ensure that these cherished pets find their way back home safely!
What is a pet microchip? A pet microchip is a small electronic device, roughly the size of a grain of rice, encased in biocompatible glass to ensure safety during implantation. Each microchip contains a unique identification number linked to your contact information in a pet recovery database. It is vital to register your pet’s microchip with your contact details and keep this information current for effective identification.
Stratford Animal Control offers low-cost microchipping services at $20.00 per pet, available by appointment only.
Pet owners can schedule an appointment by emailing acos@townofstratford.com.
