The Stop & Shop Store Leadership Team at the 200 East Main Street, Stratford store has selected the Stratford Crier as a September 2024 Community Bag Program Nonprofit Partner. This means the Stratford Crier will receive a $1 donation for every $2.50 reusable Community Bag sold during September 2024.
The Stratford Crier is especially excited about Stop&Shop’s announcement on Monday that it had partnered with the American Cancer Society to improve community health by no longer selling tobacco products.
As Stop & Shop CEO Gordon Reid said in a statement: “Our responsibility as a grocer goes far beyond our aisles, and we are committed to taking bold steps to help our associates, customers, and communities work towards better health outcomes. From our team of registered dietitians that serve our customers at no cost to our trained and trusted pharmacy associates, Stop & Shop aims to support the health and well-being of the neighborhoods we serve — and this exit from tobacco is one more way we’re accomplishing that goal.”
The last day to buy tobacco products at one of the Stop&Shop stores is Saturday, August 31st.
