The Stratford Animal Rescue Society (STARS) has launched its “Help Us Heal: The $6,800 Veterinary Lifeline” campaign to help Stratford Animal Care & Control catch up on urgently needed veterinary expenses.
Animal shelters throughout Connecticut are facing a growing crisis. Shelters are full, adoptions have slowed, and animals are remaining in care for increasingly longer periods. Meanwhile, animals continue to arrive every day, many suffering from neglect, untreated medical conditions, infections, injuries, dental disease, and other health concerns requiring immediate veterinary attention.
“We cannot turn away from an animal who is suffering simply because the bills are piling up,” said Stratford Animal Care & Control Officer and Shelter Manager Rachel Solveira. “These animals depend on us, and we depend on the generosity of our community to continue providing them with the medical care they desperately need.”
STARS currently needs to raise $6,800 to catch up on existing veterinary bills. That amount does not include the shelter’s June and July invoices, which have not yet been received. Every donation helps provide examinations, vaccinations, diagnostic testing, medications, emergency treatment, surgeries, spay and neuter procedures, and other essential care for homeless and neglected animals.
“No donation is too small,” Solveira added. “Every dollar gives an animal comfort, healing, and a chance at a better life. Please help us catch up so we can continue helping the animals who arrive at our doors with nowhere else to turn.” Donations can be made through the Help Us Heal Campaign on Givebutter.
