Dear Reader,
This week’s issue of our mighty local newspaper, has a very clear theme to it: consideration. In Jim’s column this week, while he considers the repercussions of texting while driving, he also talks about consideration for travelers on trains.
The topic of consideration also appears in our first Parenting article, where I discuss how parents can handle having difficult conversations with their children. And then we have Luz’s article about the value of prayer, which is something some of our community members will be doing as they hold a vigil for Charlie Kirk tomorrow.
There is much to consider in this week’s issue, including an Op-ed from Democratic mayoral candidate, David Chess. Keep reading, just not while driving, and peruse the Letter to the Editor essay, Bringing a Mayoral Debate to Town, submitted by Alex Giannini. Let’s honor the legacy of Dennis Cassia, the former assistant chief of the Stratford Fire Department, who died on September 18th at the age of 73. May you rest, Dennis, knowing that the community you served for the 35 years, thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.
Let us take into consideration how much our words matter – whether in prayer, in public, via text, or face to face, and as columnist, Adrian Frandle invites us to do, “reach beyond ourselves”. Is that something we can do collectively, to unite and consider one another? I believe it is.
I wish you a lovely, thoughtful, and generous-hearted week.
