Actions speak louder than words, something most of us are taught early on. As we reflect on the legacy of our veterans, men and women who have served in the navy, military, airforce, and space, it is their actions we honor today, this Veterans Day.
Thank you.
While these two words, ‘thank you,’ do not adequately acknowledge the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families, they are among the many ways we honor their service.
Towns across Connecticut honored veterans over the weekend, including here in Stratford. Though some schools and businesses are open, there is no law requiring them to stay open for Veterans’ Day. Federal and state governments are close, however.
Right here in Stratford, we have the Stratford Veterans Museum, which honors and shares stories of veterans from Stratford. Founded in 2020, the museum works to engage school-aged children, educate them about the history of the military, and open their eyes to who the people were (and when), keeping our country and the town of Stratford safe.
Thank you to all who have served and who will serve in the military! Your bravery, sacrifices, and commitment are unmatched.
