Perhaps you’ve seen the trucks, GoNetspeed, cruising around your neighborhood, usually with a police car nearby. Construction is officially underway for Stratford to be the receiver of the newest cutting-edge fiber optic technology at very competitive prices. We have quite a few others to choose from like Optimum, Frontier, T-mobile, Xfinity, and Verizon. For most of us, we just want good service for a good price.
GoNetspeed began construction in October 2025, and is slated to be completed by Spring 2026. GoNetspeed is a 100% fiber internet company that will access more than 12,400 homes and small businesses with an infrastructure that’s built to support multi-gigabite speeds with ultra-fast internet.
I spoke with Tom Perrone, the Chief Operating Officer at GoNetspead, about the company’s expansion to Stratford: “[The construction] is a 7 million dollar project that came from private investors, which means, the funding for this project did not come from grants or our taxpayers.” This means taxpayer dollars are being saved, and GoNetspeed is able to build more, faster by fully funding networks in town.
GoNetspeed began expanding in and around Connecticut eight years ago. Perrone said, “I work closely with the Town and the Town Police to promote a smooth transition to make sure there are no disruptions in traffic or services.”
Now more than ever, what we spend our money on matters, especially with inflation. Packages range from 500 Mpbs to 2g and pricing from $29.99 to $64.99 respectively. With a quick view of their website, you can see their offerings.
Perrone notes: “We need alternate providers with a focus on excellent customer services.” He believes this is what Stratford will get by “delivering the speed and reliability needed to drive innovation, support education, and power everyday entertainment. We’re excited to begin servicing the community and look forward to welcoming customers in a few weeks.”

Though construction will take place in areas throughout the community until April 2026, GoNetspeed will begin connecting the first customers within the next few weeks. This is because as GoNetspeed completes construction in a neighborhood, they launch service in that area, rather than waiting to launch every neighborhood once the full construction process is complete, according to Perrone.
More provider choices means that Stratford residents and businesses will have access to faster internet speeds, better prices, and ultimately better customer service, though customer experience will decide in the end what is best for their needs.
