This is why local, community journalism matters, especially right now.
We have seen it and heard it across news channels: two journalists were arrested for reporting, for being eyewitnesses and using their voices to share with readers the facts of the situation in St. Paul, Minnesota.
It is not ok.
What do we do as journalists?
We show up, observe the situation, speak with people directly impacted, and then use our voice, our skills, and our platform to get that information to you, dear reader. Reporters share the facts, leaving opinion out of it.
We cannot do it alone. We need you.
As today’s events have shown us, we need to keep local news alive.
That is why I am taking this moment to invite you to allow your eyes and ears to bear witness to the issues that matter to our community, and to you. Share your stories with us.
You can use this form to submit your story idea.
You can donate to the Stratford Crier, which will give us an opportunity to pay reporters for their time and work.
Let’s remember that the First Amendment gives us the right to: Freedom of Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, and Petition.
Let our lighthouse forever remain a beacon of hope, guidance, strength, and resiliency close to home, Stratford!
