Zawadi Obrien from Bunnell High School Wins the 4-Way Speech Essay Contest
New Stratford Rotary Club Inductees
Saturday February 8th, Rotarians met in the Stratford Library for the second annual 4-Way Speech Essay Contest. Four Bunnell students including Saige Williams, Zawadi Obrien, Dante Planus, and Essence Lynch competed. The finalist earned a $100 stipend and the three runner-ups each received $50. Once again, a talented, committed group. Teacher Ashley Ravo-Lynch (Bunnell) was present to cheer on her students.
We had Rotarian support, including Jeff Krause, Chair and President Harold Watson as MC, with judges Max Rosenberg, Crystal Engram, and Sheri Szymanski. Osi Rosenberg was speaker timer.
The Stratford Rotary Club proudly inducted three new members during its recent meeting. The newest Rotarians—Keri Sheridan, Heather Borges, and Diana Dilorio—bring a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to community service.
Keri Sheridan serves as the Director of the Care Connection by Stratford VNA. She enjoys baking, reading, taking long walks, and playing the piano. Heather Borges, Acting Superintendent of Stratford Public Schools, is passionate about education, storytelling, and spending time with her two children and three dogs. Diana Dilorio, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, and former Principal of Nichols School brings extensive leadership experience to the club.
The three will share a Corporate Membership in the Stratford Rotary Club alongside Dr. Philip Piazza. Harold Watson, Club President, and District Governor-Elect Stephanie Philips, who is also a member of the Stratford Rotary Club, participated in the induction ceremony.
The Stratford Rotary Club meets on the first three Tuesdays of each month at 12:15 p.m. at Riverview Bistro. Community members are invited to attend and learn more about Rotary’s impact.
