We are nearly half way through August, which I just cannot believe. I am absolutely ready for school to begin. Have you had a chance to sit in with Superintendent Borges? The final Coffee & Conversation with the Superintendent will be held on August 12th, before the school-year begins for teachers on August 24th and students on August 27th. On August 15th, at Stratford High School there will be a Back-to-School event with the Stratford Public Schools: Family and Community Partnership.
Our Neighborhood Beat reporters from Stratford High School have been busy covering stories ranging from the Waterfront Revitalization to Affordable Housing. We look forward to welcoming back book reviews in our By Kids, For Kids column, in partnership with the Stratford Public Library.
What does summertime mean to you? For me, it’s about going slower (have you seen the speed cameras?) It’s about taking time to look around (and up at the clouds) and enjoy the beauty of my growing flower garden. It’s about spending more quality time with my family, and driving everyone everywhere whenever I have a free moment. And summertime is also about exploring Connecticut, whether right here in Stratford or somewhere in Litchfield, there are many things to do and beauty all around.

There are 500 complimentary CT Kids Passport available, and you get to sign-up to grab one. If you (and your CT Kid) explore and get your passport stamped, tell us about it in a 200 word article.
