Dear Neighbor,
With the Primaries behind us and the first day of school just two weeks away, I find myself asking, “Why haven’t I made it to the beach this summer?” Whether it be work or family obligations or something altogether different, I have not spent nearly enough time at the beach. In this week’s Neighborhood Beat, reporter Ahilyn Ganan
takes a look at other reasons (like rainfall) why our local Short and Long Beaches have seen less beachgoers this summer.
Also in the Neighborhood Beat, Angel Williams tackles the issue of affordable housing in Stratford in her piece. At last week’s Paradise Green Farmers’ Market, we welcomed Senator Richard Blumenthal, who quite literally surprised us with a visit! What struck me most about his time with us at the market last Monday was how much he wanted to hear from (and listened to) market shoppers!
I hope you will spend some quality time with the words in this week’s issue of The Stratford Crier, our local newspaper. If you’d like to contribute by writing an article, please reach out to me. You can email me at nikkya@stratfordcrier.com with your pitch!
While you’re at it, please do spend some time at the beach, learning more about affordable housing, and perhaps even practicing the Golden Rule (please read Luz’s piece to understand this reference), neighbor!
